High Expectations

Here I am on my first camping trip:

I am 18 days old.

Here I am just a couple of years later:

Another summer, another camping trip; one of hundreds that I’ve taken over the years. And I’ll expect the same from my daughter.

So my question is this: how did it get to be halfway through July without a camping trip this year?

My daughter has been gestating for 31 weeks without experiencing campfires and sleeping bags. I’m afraid I’ve got her off to a difficult start.

However, I also have a cure: a two-night reservation at a coastal state park; a car full of supplies; my dog; and Phil on her way for a girls’ camping trip.
Hold on, Baby, we’re headed to the woods!
